Liposuction Fat Removal

Liposuction is one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures for the body. Otherwise shortened to lipo, it is a surgical technique to remove excess fat cells from almost any part of the face or body to produce a slimmer profile.

Liposculpture Surgery

However, our expert surgeons practice liposculpture. This is technically the same as liposuction however the emphasis is on the aesthetic result, with greater personal skill required by the plastic surgeon. At Weight Loss, we only practice liposculpture which means that the surgeon will spend longer in surgery to ensure that they create a smoother, contoured profile.

The Liposculpture Procedure

The procedure involves insertion of a Cannula (small tube-like syringe) through a small incision in the skin.

The excess fatty deposits are then drawn through the tube leaving a much smoother, slimmer surface. The procedure is usually carried out under General Anaesthetic.

FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is it right for me?

The best candidate for liposculpture are those with stubborn areas of fat which are resistant to diet or exercise. This could include the tummy, buttocks, chin, arms, knees etc. See below diagram indicating the areas that can be treated with liposculpture. A number of areas may be treated in the same session, according to your needs and requirements. A consultation with a Surgeon will help you identify what sort of outcome you could expect. You’ll get honest advice from a Cosmetic Surgeon who is expert in this area.

Q: Can men benefit from lipo?

Yes, many men are also now taking advantage of liposuction for treating such areas as the stomach and ‘love handles’ (fat that has accumulated on the sides of the waist). Male breasts are often embarrassing when they look very feminine. Excessive fat can now be removed from this problem area, restoring the body to a more masculine physique.

Q: What areas is lipo suitable for?

Stubborn fat deposits which cannot be removed by diet or exercise usually occur in areas such as the stomach, thighs, buttocks, sides, back chest or chin. Liposuction is a fat removal procedure that aims to eradicate excessive fat from these hard to shift areas. It isn’t an overall weight loss procedure, but enables you to target specific problem areas.

Q: Will I have any scars after liposuction surgery?

After liposuction, a scar of about a quarter of an inch will be left, placed discreteley wherever possible in a body fold or crease.

As with most scars, given time they will generally fade and become virtually undetectable.
